Student in schools should take advantages of information available .on the internet in their day to day activity. The internet is also utilized for social and other non-academic functions. Hence, it is desirable for students to strike a balance in the time spent online for academic and non-academic purposes. The research therefore is an attempt to find out the effort made by Sokoto State Government to enlighten students on the new technological era and thus enhance the use of Internet in their campuses. The work assessed the usage of the internet by students; thereby provision of internet services is necessary. The influence of the internet on academic performance as shown in available literatures could be positive and or/negative. The research also assessed the impact and contribution of internet services which bring considerable benefits to its citizens technologically, politically and economically.
