IMPACT OF SUPERVISION OF TEACHING METHODS ON SENIOR SECONDARY SCHOOL STUDENTS' IN SOKOTO METROPOLISAmina Muhammad Ja?afarABSTRACT
This study was on the impact of supervision of teaching methods on senior secondary school students' academic performance in Sokoto metropolis. The study employed the use of a survey design with four research questions. A sample size of 302 for teachers and 370 students were determined by busing Krejcie and Morgan's (1971) table to determine sample size from a given population. Two instruments were used for data collection: the researcher's designed questionnaire and academic performance test. The findings revealed that supervision could make teachers use practical in teaching where it becomes necessary; it also shows that supervision of teachers' method of teaching makes them use a variety of teaching methods in their education; the findings further revealed that supervision of teaching methods makes teachers use techniques that fit the age and maturity of the students in teaching and learning. Therefore, the state government should provide adequate laboratories, workshops, and instructional materials for education and learning practices based on senior secondary schools' subjects and topics.
