ABSTRACT
The paper attempts to explain the concept of poverty coupled with educational development and their relationship in the Sokoto State of Nigeria. Poverty is a significant threat to the existence of humanity in modern times, especially in the developing world. Education in every sense is one of the fundamental factors of achieving sustainable economic development through investment in human capital. Education fosters self-understanding, improves the quality of life, and raises productivity and creativity, thus promoting entrepreneurship and technological advances. In addition, Sokoto State Government has come up with various programs to eradicate poverty and enhance the full participation of children in the education system. additionally, it plays a crucial role in securing economic and social progress, thus improving income distribution salvage the people from poverty. His paper aims to contextualize the role of education as a tool for alleviating poverty. The improvement of access to quality education was also highlighted to overhaul the educational system's input, process and output processes in Sokoto to reflect the provision of quality education that may assist in building the human capital and eradicate poverty in Sokoto state Nigeria.
